Embodying equity: How principles of disability inclusion can inform a therapeutic practice that is welcoming for all

The therapeutic space has come a long way but remains inaccessible to many. At the heart of the issue is that both where and how we practice is rarely wholistically inclusive, an issue that is systemic in nature. In this lecture, we will explore how evidence-based inclusive practice, informed by disability theory, can be applied in the therapeutic space for the benefit of all. The lecture will include a set of best practice principles to take forward.

About the Speaker:

Dr Julia Ouzia (she/her/hers) is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology and a qualified Gestalt Psychotherapeutic Counsellor in private practice. She aims to provide a practice that is welcoming to all and is particularly interested in supporting those who have faced systemic oppression. Julia conducts research and publishes in the areas of relational psychotherapy and inclusive practice.
